Chinese New Year
Welp, I'm kinda sure I'm the only Chinese here so far, and this week will be our biggest festival of the year - Chinese New Year!

Even though we all now use the conventional/western calender now, the traditional Lunar Calender is still a heavy part of our culture, dating the older Chinese festivals we still celebrate(like the Mid-Autumn Festival) and marking seasonal changes. The whole celebration starts a few days before the end of the year and can last for weeks, it's basically a 'doing what on which day' thing.

So anyways, we have this New Year Fair I just went to today, and got some cool photos to share. If possible, I'll be happy to share what I will be doing this entire week! :D

That's for today. Tomorrow will be The 30th(年三十晚), meaning that it will be the last day of the year. We are going to have a family union dinner tomorrow yay

The 30th(年三十晚), last day of the year!

Okay so, the 30th was yesterday but we went home late and were too tired to do anything <:D Anyways, I should be able to update what I do later today as the first day of the year.

For the 30th, families hold Reunion Dinner(團年飯) for all members(as mant as we can) to eat together. There are also certain dishes that are staples of this occasion but I don't know most of their English names. :v

We also got our Sacred Lily/Paparwhite for our home now. The only thing to worry is the constant invasion of the local destructive Felis catus...>:v

First day of the Year, 年初一!

Not much happened today except for a lunch together. Older relatives will give out red packets containing money to younger members and we'd greet each other with blessings.
